TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE I (WEEK 9)

     

                    TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE I 

                                      (27/2/23-28/2/23)

On 27/2/23, I had sixth hour in VIII-C . I distributed the answer sheets and told them the mistakes. I then continued with the poem Solitude .

On 28/2/23 , I had third hour in VIII- C , where I finished the poem Solitude .  Further it was time to bid farwell to my students as it was the last day of Teaching Practice Phase I . I took feedbacks from students and bid them farwell. It was an emotional moment. During the afternoon session we distributed laddoos to alls the students .

My teaching practice phase I came to an end . It was indeed a very memorable experience. Apart from learning to teach within our B.Ed classrooms these practical teaching environments provide me with innumerable experiences. It helped me cultivate many skills . My time management and classroom management drastically improved . I was also able to create a good rapport with students. I also got a glimpse of the other activities or tasks a teacher has to do within a school environment. I acnt wait to start my teaching practice phase II!

TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE I (WEEK 8)

 

             TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE I (WEEK 8)

                                        (20/2/23-24/2/23)

ON 20/2/23 , after the regular morning assembly we had organized a Capacity Building program for students of VIIIth grade. We conducted the programe in two sessions. First session , which was during the morning hor , we gave an awareness about Yoga and Mental Health.During the afternoon session , each one of us taught the students different Yoga poses . in VIII-C I taught them Vrikshasana.

On 21/1/23 , during the third hour in VIII-C I conducted a diagnostic test based on The Merchant Of Venice and My Grandmother’s House. It was a 15 mark paper of objective type questions. It only took them 25 minutes to complete the exam . The rest of the hour I decided to teach them Type I conditional clauses. It was a portion that they had learnt , so I just needed to tech it to brush up their memory. I also announced an achievement test on Thursday.

On 22/2/23, during the sixth hour I went to Viii- C and distributed answer sheets. I also conducted the remedial teaching.Since I had substitution in the same class during the next hour I decided to teach type II conditional clause.

On 23/2/23 , as planned I conducted the achievement test of 25 marks based on the chapter The School for Sympathy , My Grandmother’s House and The Merchant Of Venice. I made sure students did not do any mal practice during the exam.

On 24/2/23 , I taught VIII-C the poem Solitude by Ella Wheeler Wilcox .

This week I conducted diagnostic as well as achievement tests. The results of these were pleasing to me as I was happy to know that they understood the concepts very well. I also took remedial teaching , In which I could provide more clarity to the topics I covered. The Capacity Building programme conducted was also a good experience .

TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE I (WEEK 7)

 

                        TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE I 

                                        (13/2/23- 17/2/23)

On 13/2/23,after the morning assembly , I had sixth hour in VIII-C  . I continued teaching the chapter The Merchant Of Venice part III .

On 14/2/23, I had third hour in VIII-C , where I continued teaching the chapter. Each day I was more happy to know that students understood my teaching. I also included new techniques to capture their attention . During the afternoon session we the B.Ed trainees  had organized a Coscientization Program based on the topic Lifestyle Diseases. After a formal beginning involving school authorities , we began the class . I did the powerpoint and presented it. My fellow B.Ed trainees presented each topic . We also got a good feedback from the students as well a faculty.

On 15/2/23 , I continued teaching Merchant Of Venice in VIII-C . Students responded very well to all the queries. They also actively involved in all discourses given.

On 16/2/23 , I had fifth hour in VIII-C . I finished the chapter The Merchant Of Venice. I also took students for their P.T hour during fifth period .

On 17/2/23, I had two hours in VIII-C , so I decided to finish the poem My Grandmother’s House by Kamala Das .  I also made sure that the students understood the chapter taught as well as they were kept engaged through out . I also included ICT to grab their attention.

This week I was able to see a gradual change in me a s teacher trainee. I was more responsible. I was able to take better classes than before. The conscietization programme also was an experience where we could help students be aware of their unhealthy life styles.

TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE 1 (WEEK 6)

 

                          TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE 1 

                                    (6/2/23-10/2/23)

On 6/2/23, I had sixth hour in VIII-C. I finished teaching part II of The Merchant Of Venice.  

On 7/2/23 , to break the monotony of learning a long chapter I decided to teach them a grammar portion. Accordingly I taught them Adjectives in Concept Attainment Model.

On 8/2/23 , I taught them Types of Personal Pronouns in Advance Organizer Model. I made sure students understood the concepts very well. I also gave them exercises to practice.

On 9/2/23 ,after the morning assembly ,  I had fifth hour in VIII-C , I began teaching the third part of The Merchant Of Venice. After a re-cap I got into the chapter .

On 10/2/23, I continued teaching VIII-C The Merchant of Venice part III.

This week we had regular working hours , with no much programs . I made sure students understood my class , especially grammar. Though they find it hard to pick – up grammar portions , still I tried my best to convey it in easiest form . My classroom management improved . I still had to be careful with timing.

INNOVATIVE MODEL

 As the part of B.Ed curriculum , during the teaching practice Phase I we had to create an innovative model to teach the students any concept. Accordingly I created an interactive model on Kangaroo Words , a grammar concept from the chapter The School For Sympathy. I included this model in one of my lesson plans , as a discourse activity. The detailed working of the model has been uploaded in the pdf attached here.

WEEKLY REFLECTION PHASE I ( WEEK 5)

 

                        WEEKLY REFLECTION PHASE I ( WEEK 5)

                                           (30/1/23- 3/2/23)

On 30/1/23 , Monday , after the regular morning assembly , we observed a silent prayer by 11:00AM in accordance with Martyr’s Day .Then I had sixth hour in VIII-C.I began part II of The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare . Before beginning the class I gave a short synopsis part I.

On 31/1/23 , Tuesday , I had class in VIII-C during the third hour . acoordingly I went to the class and continued the chapter being taught. Further during the afternoon session we had planned a skill development program for HS students of VIII grade. We taught them to make paper pens . We also provided the materials to make the same.During the hours , we also helped them make paper pens . By the end of the class we had a number of paper pens with innumerable deisgns . The wide variety proved the magnificient creativity exhibited by the children. Further we collected these pens and decided to sell them within the school campus for 10rs each. The collected fund was decided to be contributed to the school .

On 1/2/23 ,Wednesday , I had to attend the fifth and sixth hour with VIII-C , during which they had I.T period . Then I had my regular hour in the seventh period . I continued teaching The Merchant of Venice .

On 2/2/23 , Thursday , I had fifth hour in VIII-C . Accordingly as per the lesson plan I taught them the continuation of the chapter. During the seventh hour I accompanied VIII-C and VIII-B to the ground for the P.T period . I was also accompanied by my fellow trainee Gouri.

On 3/2/23 , Friday , I had fourth hour in VIII-C . I taught them the rest of the chapter . To make the class more live I had introduced conversation activity, which went well. I also corrected their grammatical errors.

This week I witnessed the creative side of the students I taught . I was surprised to see some students excelling creatively during skill development program. Since throughout the week I had to teach The Merchant of Venice , I made it a point to incorporate vivid discourses that engaged and captured attention of the students. I also noted the errors they made and tried rectifying it.
